This utility enables you to transform the text content from screenshots into an editable format. It might prove to be of good use if you need to easily extract text from an image file or webpage and paste it into a new Microsoft Word file.
ABBYY Screenshot Reader comes with easy-to-configure settings so anyone can easily get accurate results with minimum effort. The application lives on your System Tray from where you can access the output profiles and program options. This utility also features a small main window that can be displayed or hidden from your screen if necessary.
All you need to do is to choose the preferred screen capturing mode (Screen, Area, Window or Timed Screen), language, and the destination for the extracted content. For example, in my testing, I extracted the text content from a webpage and sent it to my clipboard. The program offered me the quality results I needed, without changing anything in the captured text, such as spacing or letters.
The only feature I'd add to this app would be the ability to define global hotkeys for taking certain types of screenshots and exporting them to the desired output format. Also, the Help tool doesn't work as nothing happens when I click the "?" button.
Still, this application is a perfect solution for extracting text content from webpages or images and turning it into an editable format. ABBYY Screenshot Reader offers you quality results, is very simple to handle, and is cheap.
